Here's a quick little story.........I've been missing for a while....I had my knee replaced (yikes) & (ouch)....the drugs have started to wear off & I can hit the computer key pad with at least one finger....
Several years ago, Cacarpetbagger & a friend who shall at this time remain nameless and I met down in the California Delta to have a little luck at bottle finding. We had been doing our research and were well prepared for a successful hunt..... Pure optimism....I'm a firm believer that luck plays a healthy part in the quest for bottles, but good old elbow grease & intelligence go farther.
It was a warm California October day....mid 70's...the onset of fall...the perfect time of the year to acquire bottles. We met brite early at a nearby landmark : a concrete tower the local kids decorate with Senior's Rule, Class of 97, etc. This location is the site of an extremely early California home. Scratching around at this location for goodies in the past had proven fruitful....Cacarpetbagger had found some free blown and a deep green pontiled snuff bottle in the hard clay...the place had age.
On this occasion I began to search the scattered dump area....about two hours into the quest I came across the second London Jockey Club House Gin I have ever found...If you remember a previous post I found a yellow London Jockey years before also in the company of Cacarpetbagger. My luck was to hold...or was it the diligence & effort....What ever the magic, a second London Jockey now graces my bottle display cabinet. This puppy is pontil scarred. It is a deep olive green with heavy whittle and sunken panels. Again the classic horse & rider....California gold rush at it's best.
A few more items were found that day...but this story is about the second horse & rider...Pictures are posted for your approval.[][] ........two happy faces for two London Jockeys
