Mason Jar Help!

I picked this jar up for two dollars (and I am assuming that is all its worth) at a thrift store. Immediatly under the lip, it says wire side. Down lower, it says Mason Jar with a star between the two former words. On the bottom it says K 1874 L, and the 1874 is between the two letters. Any info is appreciated, and thanks to all who post a reply in advance.

Mason Star Jar , Machine Made, Clear,metal lid.
1994 book by Bill Schroeder value at that time one to two dollars.
