Trying to find information about this jar.

Kids found this jar out in the field yesterday while we were out riding around on the side by side. All I have been able to find about it is according to the Ball embossment on the bottom of the jar it was made from 1933-1962. I'm not sure if it was manufactured for another companies product or not. Jar doesnt have anyway to screw an actual lid on to it. Location we found it had a bunch of homestead houses back in the late 1800's and early 1900's up until about the 30's or 40's. We are always finding cool jars and bottles out here. This is just the first one I haven't really been able to find any information about. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi, not an expert but the stippling on the bottom of the jar indicates it is a post 1940’s jar. It is an interesting shape, does it fit a regular metal canning lid and screw band by any chance?
I did a little sleuthing and did not find any information on Ball making jars other than canning jars with their name embossed on them but who knows.

No it does not fit a regular screw band. Thanks for the input, we find all sorts of stuff out here found about 10 complete jars and bottles last night riding around.

So I just came across a thread posted on this site on August 27, 2021
SKS.TUSC was talking about the same thing, a clear glass jar with Ball embossed on the base she had found in a thrift store.
Check out the post on here from then.
Appears Ball did make what they call product jars for other companies.
Part of the mystery solved!

From what I understand following the Great Depression Ball began to make product food jars for other companies, as Jpalm said. These were mostly for food companies - pickles, condiments, olives, etc. - that did not have their own glass-production department. They simply ordered jars from Ball, a pretty well known producer, and would slap their paper label onto the side of the jar.

Now, for what was in this particular one is anyone's guess. Unless someone recognizes this particular shape or can find a match with the label, your guess is as good as mine.

You are welcome! Just a hint, if you can find one of these porcelain lined ball zinc lids, it may fit your jar. Here is a photo of one of mine that is a bit similar.
