Masons 404 pat nov 30th 1858 midget c-2219

Hey anyone out there have this mason midget with the 404 emobssed on it? I would like some info on it if anyone knows anything about it. I bought it for 24 bucks in a box of mason jars. Looked up the value in my 1991 price guide and it says 125-175 not sure if thats with or with out the lid, mine has the zink lid. Wondering if the price is right or if its gone up or down. Thanks for any help

Ryan, Midget mason jars are usually priced in Redbook to include the lid - especially since the lid for this jar is not peculiar to this jar only. I'm sure the value has gone up a bit, although I don't have my Redbook with me at the moment. I don't remember what I paid for mine, but I'm sure that it was more than $24.00. It's generally considered that the number between "Mason's" and "Patent" is simply a mold number. However, 404 seems to be about the only 3-digit number to appear there - I don't think anyone can give you a definitive answer as to why that's the case. I should mention there is also a 111, but speculation on that one is that it's actually a Roman Numeral III. Enjoy your great find! -Tammy

Its been at 305 for a few days now I dont know if it will go up or not but still, more than I thought it would have went for!
