This hat is quite small 2 inches in height 3 inches long and 2 inches wide. The hat is also extremely rare in this size and is from the famous Mt Vernon Glass Company.I purchased this hat last year from an antique store in Saratoga New York. The color, the style of the hat, the end of day waste in the glass batch that made this hat all point to Mt. Vernon rather then Mt Pleasant as a place of manufacture. This is an end of day classic where you want to see the debris in the glass telling it just might have been the last object made that day from the bottom of the barrel as the saying goes.I have compared this hat to Spring water bottles from these works and the color is dead on.This hat is old also as the lower rise and the larger flare on the hat is indicative of the 1825 to 1835 time period when this style was fashionable. This is one of my favorite hats because of its small size.
