Just thought I'd share the places I go to. Out here in rural Clarence, NY there was no garbage pick-up until the 1970's, so I find bottles quite often. These are the places I visit:

1. Amherst dump (Where most of my stuff comes from)
Used from the 1880's to the 1930's
Located on Hopkins Rd.
Stuff found there: To many to mention.
I've basically stripped this place of any embossed/BIM bottles, so I don't go as often anymore.

2. Rosenberry Dump (That's what I call it)
Used from the 1890's to the 1930's
Located in the woods in Penn-Field, NY
Noteable Stuff Found there:

1. Standard Brewing Co. Crown
2. Fletcher's Castoria
3.T.C Cole (Soda) BIM blob
4. Bunch of clear unembossed ABM stuff (Which I sold)
5. Patent 1930's ink
This is the dump I go to when we go to my cousins' house, and is located in the woods of their backyard. I remember when my cousin first brought me in the woods I thought "I wonder is they're's any bottles in here?" I was correct! Most of the stuff is still buried, gotta dig some more.[:D]

3.Peanut Dump (I named it that because it's next to the bike path, which used to be the Peanut line railroad)
Used from the 1950's-60's
Located next to a bike trail in Clarence, NY
Stuff Found there:

1. pre-1956 Listerine
2. Amber Vaseline
3.Couple of medicines
4.Lavoris
6.Vicks Va-tro-nol
This place is absolutely FILTHY, so I don't go to often. Lot's of 60's junk in this one, toys, car parts, even a 1962 license plate!

3.Farmer Dump (What I call it, since the farmers used it)
Used from the 1910's?-1940's
Also located on bike trail
Stuff found there

1. Fargo Milk (Which I gave to my uncle)
2.Royal Palm ACL soda
3.30's squat beer
4.Anderson's ACL soda (Which I didn't keep and wish I did[:(])
5.Bunch of broken hobbleskirt cokes and broken 5 Cent store milk bottle (Which I didn't keep also)
Not that big, but nice none the less. LOTS of bricks.

Stuff I've found in Ransom Creek
1. Certo
2.60's pepsi
3.1910's cobalt perscription med
4.1940's extract bottle

As you can see, they's quite a bit of bottles around here ( and in penn-field) and I'm sure many more. Now if only the scanner would work....[:D]

Diggerboy - Western N.Y has been hit hard,(Im just outside Rochester) but you can still fumble onto a good spot now and then. Ive been working one in the woods on and off for the last year or so - got some pontils,a couple of good bitters, hutches, and some assorted oddities. Have you checked around Akron? Drove through one time and I got a 'feeling' about the place.
