Have no idea what this could be. Seems to be glass tube covered with metal. Found in pit with other bottles. Almost 3 1/2 inches long, Note glass tip showing where metal covering has rusted away. Tip, opening, is very smooth not broken. Found in bottle pit giving up late1800--early 1900 bottles.

Thanks

Digger,
At one time almost everyone knew where Shermanville was. But the town took several bad hits; The Haley quarry, which supplied sandstone to Chicago, closed. After reaching a certain depth the sandstone was contaminated with iron streaks causing the stone to rust; the quarry workers moved away; the post office closed; Cook and Flowers General store also went out of business; Even with its location at the confluence of the DesPlaines River and the Kankakee River, just outside of Will county, the town just went downhill.

Town was unincorporated about 1873.

have a good un.............

i have a few "ghost town bottles" .they are some of my favorites, having a bottle from a town that does not exist any longer is a thrill!!!

Do you think it might have been some kind of syringe?
