Most of the bottles and small items on site. I also brought home a 5-gallon bucket of redware and stoneware shards, including a local Lewistown jug that I hope to be able to reconstruct.
Here is my share of the goodies from today. I got the crock, a Philly med (H.C. Blair's Sons Apothecaries), a nice, crude Dr. J's, two marbles and some pipe parts. The crock appears to be a very early stoneware piece.
Drippy applied lip on this Dr. J's. Believe it or not, this is the first Hostetter's I have ever dug. It's a heavily-whittled 1870s example. More pics tomorrow, should be a great pit. ~Jim
Glad to see you guys are still hard at it with the digging and having some success as well! Haven't had a chance to do any digging or too much else away from home except work since my wife was diagnosed with her breast cancer, but 2008 should be better. I continue to enjoy the success that you are having, especially since you are now "experienced privy diggers". Sure does seem to beat the Lewistown dump! Keep up the good work and I wish you continued success in 2008, but leave a few bottles for me.
