Hi all,

Last week I bought my first non medicine bottle for my collection. It is a hutch bottle from the Star Bottling Works in South Sharon, Pa. South Sharon was officially changed to Farrell, Pa in 1912 so it makes the bottle interesting and easily dated.

It was an ebay "Buy it now or best offer" auction and they were asking 16. I offered 10 and they took it. it was a local pickup too. I am very happy with it.

Thanks very much for your comments.

I have been on the fence for a while about shifting to a collection of all local bottles from my county, this one was dipping my toe in the water.

Around here, patent meds are becoming few and far between, and a lot of what I do not have is out of my price range anyhow..[;)]

It photographs clear, but when you are holding it the bottle is definitely aqua. I thought it was clear when I bought it, my pics came out the same as the seller's.

It does not surprise me that the Erie bottle is different. According to one of the soda bottle sites that I found a link to on this forum, the South Sharon Star bottle has 1 clear and 5 aqua variations. One that I have seen in the past has the raised star just like your Erie one. There are only two other bottlers in the Sharon/Farrell area that used hutches.

Have to plan a dig sometime DWS
