Can experts confirm these insulator varieties for me please. Picked these up for 2$ and 3$ in NE Penn this week. My rule of thumb is if it’s a type or color I don’t have and is $5 or less, I go for it.
First is a Brookfield with an inverse 1 on crown. I think it’s a CD 102.

Next is a white porcelain one, which I think is a U-268C, but not sure.

Lastly is a brown porcelain one I got for 3$ a few weeks back, can’t locate this one on the various insulator sites.

And I picked up my first Amber milk - so for 20$ total I think I got 4 keepers.
Thanks for the help.

Yup, the glass Brookfield pony is a CD 102. I'm not going to hazard a guess on U-numbers without actually seeing the insulator in person, because there are a lot of subtle variations. But generally, unmarked signals or cable tops in ordinary colors like white or brown are not going to be big-ticket items and they're probably worth about what you paid for them.

I like your rule... you can add some new things to the collection without spending much and have fun. That's what it's all about.

Thank you very much. I’ve only dug two types personally, Hemingray 42 and Brookfield beehive types both on my local commuter train line. The rest have all been purchased within my spending guidelines. I’ll post the full set soon. Only about a dozen, all common I’m sure but do have a couple nice colors.

There is the North American Glass Insulator Price Guide you can get. Also check out National Insulator Association. There is also a price guide for porcelain insulators by Elton Gish. The aqua CD 102 Brookfiled pony insulator comes in 36 different listings in the price guide.
