I was wondering when they began ot put no deposit no return on bottles. i have found a couple of bottles with that on and asked my dad but he doesnt remember. im trying to get a date on the surface of a dump i just found.

Yes, it was the 1960's. Coke began using them around 1962. I am not sure about the other soft drinks, but they pretty much copied each other. When one went to a certain style bottle, the others would soon follow. On the dump you found, look at some of the NDNR and on the bottom should be some numbers. Look for a number like '68' or '72', etc. That is the year, 1968, 1972, etc. Hope you find some good stuff!

thanks for the info. i was just trying to get an age estimate of some surface finds i found on an abondand railroad track looking for insulaters
