Fall brings the pursuit of civil war artillery shells. This is a 30 pound parrot shell found on an artillery range that has some more lurking deep. It is 4.25 inches dia and 12 inches tall. It is a ground burst....meaning it burrowed into the earth and exploded. I dug 4 of these deep bursts and put them back together. all were fired 1 mile away and were in a 30 ft circle. Them crisp mornings are calling me into the heart of Kentucky.
