Myself , My bro in law Jim and 14 year old Riley who is the son of a friend of mine and who loves to dig for bottles went out for a little hike today. We had visited this area in the past but wanted to do a little more exploring. With such a beautiful sunny day and the leaves at their peek we started out. We found several foundations and 4 deep wells. Good thing no one went for a swim ! UGH ! We found a dump with 1940 and up stuff so we left that. We also went scratching around a few other dumps that we dug in the past but they are all spent. Finally we found a rock dump, but it contained only lots of nice shards , amethyst stuff etc etc but found nothing whole. No reason to move 2 tonne of stone and come up nothing so we gave up. Such is like it in this area.

Found this graveyard, had about 10-12 stones, these were the upright ones. From the early 1900's.

Looks like fall has arrived in Nova Scotia. Great day for a hike. If there were wells, there are probably some dumps close by. Good luck in the future on your hunts.

I found a well like that last fall at an old farm site , never found any bottles on the property and somebody bought the property this year so haven't been able to go back there to see if there is anything hidden . I haven't found much this October , lots of rain here or busy .

Yes Timmy, it is partridge season. Deer season opens Oct 25th. It is good to wear orange this time of year as a few hunters will shoot 1st and ask questions later. [&:]Here is the head of a deer we found in the same area.

The privys should be uphill on the opposite side of the property , any luck looking for them?

No success with privys in this area. A lot of bedrock here. I have found only one so far. We tied to dig it but it filled up with water very fast. We will try it again next summer during the dry season. I'll have to invest in a privy rod.
Here is a little privy related poem for this area '' In days of old when men were bold and toilets wern't invented, they passed their lumps behind a stump and went away contented ". lol..
