Wondering if anyone might be able to help me in identifying a recently found milk bottle? I purchased the bottle from a second hand store in Parkersburg, WV. The owner is an excavator, so I am assuming he dug it nearby. The bottle is one pint in size. In a slug plate, it reads, "T. I. MATHERS". Oddly, there is no city or dairy name embossed below the name--which makes it appear to be unfinished. On ancestry.com, I found a Thomas I. Mathers in the 1910 and 1920 census records. He lived in Warren Township, Washington County, OH. He was listed as a "dairyman" in 1910 and "dairy farmer" in 1920. In the 1920 record, he has a son, Walter, whose occupation is a Driver of a Dairy Wagon--so it is likely there were milk bottles the Mathers dairy farm. Doing a google search, I also found a reference to Thomas Mathers, dairyman of Marietta, OH, mentioned in a Marietta newspaper in 1912. All this leads me to believe the bottle is from Marietta, or Washington County, although I have no proof. Has any other collector out there seen a bottle from this dairy before? I'm thinking it is rare since I've found no other on the internet. Also, I frequently shop area antique stores, and I don't remember seeing a milk bottle with this name. Thanks in advance for any assistance provided!
