Old Coke, Coca Co and 7 up

Hello, thank you for the approval. I have 5 interesting bottles I would like your opinion on.
#1 a 1914 coca cola amber bottle
#2 a Coca Co. amber
#3 amber 7 up
#4 paper 7 up amber
#5 unopened green paper label.
Thoughts?

Welcome to the forum! I've got a feeling someone stuck some new-old-stock paper labels onto those last two bottles, they look both suspiciously crisp and improperly attached (I've never seen a legit soda label with that creasing around the top) and they're both missing the neck labels. The Coke bottle and ACL 7Up are definitely legit, but I don't know anything about those specific examples. I think Houston is one of the more common cities to see those squat amber 7Ups from.

You have a great collection of bottles. The Brown 7UP ACL from Houston can be worth $ 50 to $150 so it's a great bottle. I agree with Canadian that the 2 paper label bottles look a little suspicious.

These are legit. This is from a collector who has been collecting soda bottles for 50 years. One is still full. No new old stock here. Nice try though

How do you want proof? This gentleman has been collecting since he was 15. He will be 65 July 5th. He has a collection that is museum quality worthy. Due to his health, he has been forced to sell part of his collection. He has a Pepsi paper label collection second to none. I wasn't here to ask if they were legit. I was showing them because of their exceptional quality. I may show more in the future. He was offended by your statement that they were new old stock labels...hardly. Try finding a full 7 up bottle with a paper label in very good condition. Sorry for your negative opinion. Show me proof of the store you bought your old bottles. Just what I thought.

I'm very sorry to hear about his health. I'm sure he has a great collection, and I'm sure it must not be a good feeling to have to sell off his collection. I hope it'll be enough to get all the treatment he needs.

Frankly though, I do have an issue with the way you've been speaking to me. If a new member shows up to the forum and in one of their first posts condescendingly tells the people here that we're wrong and they're right, yes I'd expect them to be able to back that up with something - though I still wouldn't appreciate the condescension. An example of the sort of proof I'd expect if you want to confidently tell the collectors here that they're wrong is a photo of someone in the 1930s holding a 7Up bottle with the label stuck on in the same odd way which causes creasing along the top. If you don't have something like that, how can you confidently say that you're right and we're wrong? That's why I said that I had a feeling they were NOS labels - I can't prove it, so I'm not stating it for certain.

Usually when someone comes here asking for opinions (especially new members who don't post introductions) they're asking how old the bottles are, how much they're worth, and whether they're legit or reproductions. I had no way of knowing that wasn't what you wanted.

And for the record, I'm sorry, but there's little need to find a 7Up bottle in such perfect condition when you can easily create your own. It's a common scam to dupe collectors into paying much more than each of those items would be worth on their own. In particular it's a big problem with 7Up because of how widely available NOS labels are. I would expect an 80 year old 7Up label which hasn't been stored in a box of labels to look something like this:

To me, a 7Up bottle in such obviously rough condition with a rare local franchise bottler's name on it would be worth much more than one in perfect condition which happens to have the exact same label as the ones which are available for next to nothing as NOS on Ebay. I think most of us at some time or another have paid too much for a bottle which we later realized had a new old stock or reproduction label stuck on. It's a lesson you end up learning over time.
