I have a clear bottle, probably 8 or 9 ounce size, that has the Owens Illinois diamond/oval/I symbol and the number 3 on left of symbol and 9 on right of symbol. I've discovered the 3 is the fairmont,WV plant number and the 9 means 1929 or 1939. I have attached pics as well. I would like to find out what the bottle stored and what year it was made. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I'm going to GUESS it originally contained some sort of semi liquid food product such as Cocktail Sauce or Chutney or relish, etc. The larger diameter opening at the mouth would indicated it wasn't pure liquid but still somewhat pourable. The year will have to be determined by someone else as I don't know nor do I care to pin it down that close. [8D] Jim

Thanks for sharing Sam. Is that part of an alunimum cap on top of the bottle? Seems like it should have what looks like an armoured glove with fist (just guessing -it was on some that I have seen similiar to this type bottle). It appears to be a 1939 version of Durkee's Salad Dressing. But I could be wrong. Buster

I believe that this is an earlier version of your bottle. It has the E R Durkee embossing and aluminum cap. Hope this helps in some way. Buster[attachment=2-26-15 010.JPG] [attachment=2-26-15 011.JPG]
