I saw an unusual Owens Illinois prototype bottle in an antique shop last weekend and I was wondering if anyone here knows anything about these. It was dated in the early 1970s, either 1970 or 1973, the glass was very thin with an odd top, no closure, looked similar to a small NDNR soda or beer bottle. The bottom had a plastic part that had the Owens Illinois information and the date but there was no mention of a brand name. It seems that this was made to show prospective buyers in the soda/beer industry but it did not take off. The bottle was priced at $15 but I have never seen one before so I did not buy it because I know nothing about them. I would appreciate any info if anyone knows anything about these types of bottles. Thanks!

I found this picture of a Coca Cola O I prototype bottle that recently sold on Ebay. This bottle is just like the prototype bottle I saw in the antique shop except for the name brand. Like I mentioned previously, the plastic part only has Owens Illinois info on it. Any ideas?
