yeah, but those are the seller's - it's a pic from the listing. HOWEVER, once I receive the gin I'll post some photos of my dark green pontils - most dating between 1780 - 1840. These are what I'm focussed on collecting now and I'm having a riot creating a display. I just love the crudeness of these early bottles - bottle making in early stages gives these such individual characteristics.
I'm picking the gin up tomorrow at the seller's location so will have a great opportunity to see his other stuff. Hmmm...maybe I should take some cash....[]
I felt the same way when I considered buying it - decided I just couldn't resist! I may not have the finest collection of pristine 18th century bottles but I do have (IMHO) a nice collection of some very crude and perhaps even ugly early glassware. This pontil scar almost looks like a blunderbuss barrel was used! Ya gotta love the mild insanity of this bottle's appearance.
