Please let me first say thank you to Irish and Digdug for their replies to my post. They have been very helpful. I am posting this picture of the base of my pickle jar as requested by Irish. I hope this picture is clear enough. Does anyone have an idea of the value of one of these jar. Im keeping this one my mother wants it. Cant upset dear ol mom. Thanks again everyone.

I reckon that's pretty early although there isn't a pontil scar there often isn't on the 1850's pickles. Value is hard as I don't know the US market for that sort of stuff or if it's common over there (I don't think so), here that could be worth quite a bit, I don't chase that type of bottle but I still take note (pickles and oils have an important connection with our goldfields history) and I've never seen one the same as it.
