Thank you Jason, You are no doubt right though it isn't that large a bottle. I guess Steve A. would know. It is sure a neat old bottle. I will try to save the pictures and take them to Corning with me this summer. If you get to selling it - let me know. RED Matthews

Your flask is known as Wald Glas or Forest glass from the Palitinate region of Germany. This happens to be the area where the immigrants who established the first successful glass factory's in the early American Colonies emigrated from. Caspar Wistar Wistarburgh Alloway New jersey 1739,Herny, Wilhelm Stiegel Manheim Pennsylvania 1763 came from those regions, brought over experienced blowers from the same region and their products finishes can be seen on this early German Glass. This is my flask which I thought was Stiegel but Jeff informed me of the German heritage!!

Sorry I cant seem to find your bottle in bottle form, however these animal creations are all half post in make up and this one is about as close to your bottle as I can find. You have a nice old (200t year old) German Liquor bottle. The nubs were more of a slippage concern not so much for decoration and not related to American poison bottles.Check out these links this glass is down right beautiful. http://www.glaswolf.de/Bottles.227.0.html?&L=1 antique-bottles.net has some competion............. http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php?PHPSESSID=jajlog4ql4e3hamo18888l1cv1&/topic,37431.0.html http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php?topic=44991.0 Try posting it at this forum someone there I am sure will be helpful,I am signing up for this one!!!!

Steve you give all of us a special service with your teaching and detail studies regarding the glass making history and evaluations. Thanks to you - your coverages are priceless in my estimation.
I hope to get into your country area some day before I leave this old age deteriorating condition I am in. I keep trying to stuff my computer with files of your coverage efforts. Your a daily stimulant in my world of glass appreciation.

Did you waste your time, are you kidding me you did an outstanding jobs. I could not be more pleased you by far have giving me the most help on anything I ever posted. I know that posting info and pictures takes time. I'm sure others that came across this forum will have learned something too. That what great about this website. I'm surprise to have learned that the bottle is older than what I had thought and am amazed how a bottles of that age are still existing in their complete form from those time peroids. The photo of your bottle which show the ridge line of the double dip it exactly how mine looks. How long have you had yours and are our bottles hard to come by any idea on rarity and value? I have wanted to purchase that refrence book that you posted those photos from but if my memory service me right it a pricey one, but would be worth it I guess if it filled with a great info. Thanks again to you steve and the others that have posted info and comments about this bottle
