Thought this might be of interest to any 7 UP collector, particularly in light of all the research recently done by SODAPOPBOB. I acquired this bottle about the same time he was doing his research. I was not able to find one just like it in either of the Lockhart articles relative to 7 UP history. The bottle was produced by Owens-Illinois at the Los Angeles plant in 1936. Hope you can see this in the picture. 24 <(I)> 6 According to previous research this plant was only open from 1932-1937. The ACL is extremely faded but I was able to make out the advertising on the back. This is somewhat different from any that I was able to locate. It is as follows:A COOLER OFFA FRESHER UPALKALINEREACTION (different)SETTLES THE STOMACH line star line Min. Contents 6 ½ Fl. Oz. (I've never seen one that wasn't 7 Fl. Oz.) The neck front and back has U7P The bottom reads Seven Up Bottling Co Los Angeles (has 7UP embossed in the middle and the 24 <(I)> 6 OI detail.

The pic of the bottom is a little blurry but I can still read it. Looks good. Can you post anymore pics of it? Would like to see it all. Excellent find. Thanx for sharing.

Not much to see in the bottle itself. I purchased it because I thought it would be of interest to the folks on this site. I don't think there's any doubt to it being relatively rare but its beauty is certainly faded. The bottle itself is in good condition. I'm posting the picture you requested. I'd gladly trade this 1936 7UP for a 1938 or 1939 Squirt.

I guess I missed that info and helps explain these charts for me. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, so Los Angeles had two plants 23 and 24 but the 24 plant has been omitted from these charts. I ask why? Is it because it was only open from 1932-1937?

SODAPOPBOB posted a link somewhere concerning OI plant 24, so I'll know he'll have the answer for you once he sees this post. That was another reason to purchase this bottle ...you don't see many from that plant.

I found something similar a couple years ago , they are very hard to find in any condition and were only used for short period during 30's as you mention . there isn't many around to be found I would suspect
