It's a nice crock for sure...but I am not quite sure what it would go for...looks to me that it has a company name stenciled on it....the value would depend on what it says.
I am not an expert by any means but I would say that your jug dates to about 1910 or so and usually sell for around $60. I have a number 5 jug and a number 25 crock. The logo on the side is the Red Wing logo and you can usually tell by it and the other markings as to it's age.
According to the redwing price guide and identification book...."Wing shoulder jug. 3 gal. (RWU 1) 40.00~60.00...of course that's in 1988 dollars...they also made the same jug w/ birchleaf decoration and another with the shoulder (or top) in brown....1900~1906 they were made. Joe
Thanks for the info. What is the price for the 5 gallon ones, I saw one at an antique shop for 55 and was wondering if i could get more than that if i bought it and sold it?
The 5 gallon ones don't go for very much more than that, just a ball park figure I would say about $60-$75 on a good day on ebay and sometimes they go dirt cheap, ebay is a funny place sometimes. That is if it has the same markings as the one that you have shown. The older ones will fetch a bit of a higher price.
