I found one of those tincture of iodine poison bottles too. Cool little bottles. I have found literally two clay marbles in my travels so your motherload is most impressive!
Thanks, I was quite surprised myself. Although they aren't worth much in collector's value I found it fascinating to think that they had remained all together in their bag for over 100 years along with the acorns the kid had collected. It's a snapshot of life from a simpler time, when every child's grandpa was a Civil War veteran and the streets still echoed with the clip clop of horse hooves.

I always end up taking marbles - they are great fillers for mason jars/etc for display. Crazy that they remained together all these years!

That is a great description my friend!
I’ve stood on old roadbeds in the woods
on a crisp fall day and imagine the horse and buggy coming by throwing old bottles off in the gullys.

So the marbles were found in a bag then? Most Victorian solitaire sets had 32 marbles which is kind of coincidental. Curious if any better pics of the glass marbles which might help date
