Some kinda flask??

Can anyone identify this bottle? It measures 5-3/4 x2-5/8 x 1-3/4 and has a purplish hint to it, has an indented bottom and it looks like it had a label on the backside, I'm thinking it was some kinda flask you put in your pocket and has a barrel shape to it. As always, thanks for all the info!

YEP SOME KINDA WHISKEY BOTTLE. 1890S TO EARLY 1900S. NOT SURE IF YOU WOULD PUT IT IN YOUR POCKET[ AT LEAST YOUR BACK POCKET] AS IT WOULD BE KINDA BULGY AND MOST POCKET FLASKS ARE FLAT AND METAL. NOT HAVING ANY WRITTING OR EMBOSSING ON IT MAKES IT PROBABLY IN THE $5 MAYBE UP TO $15 DOLLAR RANGE AT BEST.COOL LOOKING! I HAVE A SMALL BARREL FROM I.W. HARPERS WHISKEY,BOUT THE SAME SIZE[NOT FLAT ,BUT COMPLETLY ROUND THOUGH AND GAVE $25 FOR IT AND THAT MAY HAVE BEEN A LITTLE MUCH ] JAMIE

I am with Jamie , definitely a whiskey bottle . I have one like it , or at least it looks the same , blasted thing has a crack in it though . Mine came with a glass stopper , looks like your may have had one as well .

yes it is open pontil we think we dated it to 1859-1860 because witch matches the dig area we found it

Called it wrong in the statement saying it was like mine , mine is not pontiled !
