Sterling Hill Mine

I went to The Sterling Hill Mine this past saturday. They had a crystal, fossil and gemstone/rock show. Loads of cool stuff. Prices were great. I also went into the mine run dump area and scored some 55lbs of hot Fluorescent stone. I love that place, people, and the rocks. I carve them up into all kinds of stuff. Some of this will get slabbed into a chessboard, not sure. Other pieces I will sculpt into something. Here are some pictures.

Nestled in the small town of Ogdensburg, New Jersey is the Sterling Hill Mining Museum. What once was one of the world's richest zinc ore deposits and renowned zinc mine is now a world famous museum and attraction.

Its a cool place to visit. Would like to see some of those carved pieces when you get done, will they still fluoresce?

I have a heart and a stone axe. They sure are fluorescent after polishing. Daytime picture of fluorescent rock is kind of lame. posted both before. I will post the next one. It is gonna be a cool one.

I saw an 8 inch sphere being bid on. It went for a bit of cash. Spheres are or were hot.

Geodes are cool. I love your green one. Nice crystals inside it. I'm sure pictures don't do it justice. I picked up a fluorescent one at the show. I need to cut it open. I got a nice echinoid, a fossil shell and a slabbed and polished agate.
