I got lucky today! I'm going to do some research on this fantastic bottle! Hopefully I find out who M was!Wow, not often that you find a gravitating stopper on the surface! Do you know who M was? It's listed as unknown on sodasandbeers but presumably was someone local to where you found it http://www.sodasandbeers.com/SABShowBottle.aspx?Bottle=52716AA&Firm_Number=52716
John Matthews of the gravitating stopper? That seems odd that he'd emboss his initial on the side of the bottles he designed. Where'd you read that? Or was this a different John Matthews?I got lucky today! I'm going to do some research on this fantastic bottle! Hopefully I find out who M was!
Edit: The M stands for John Matthew's
The bottle design was sold to John Mathews in 1864 by Albert Albertson. Maybe the M stands for MarcellusJohn Matthews of the gravitating stopper? That seems odd that he'd emboss his initial on the side of the bottles he designed. Where'd you read that? Or was this a different John Matthews?
