Treasures from the sea ...

I was fortunate enough to buy a large batch of bottles yesterday from someone who used to run a dive school up the East coast of South Africa. Most will be for re-selling, but some may well stay in the collection.

This was one that stood out immediately, a Rose's Lime Juice Cordial in black glass. I am uncertain what to do about the barnacles and other "sea life". May leave it on some of them,as an extra attraction, but will try to remove from others - this being one :

The beer on the left really qualifies as "Barnacle Bill, the bottle !"

There wasn't too much real colour, although I suspect others had already helped themselves to some of the bottles ! These were the only poisons in the bunch:

These two struck me as probably being the oldest, especially the one on the left:

But certainly one of the best was this lovely Morton stoneware jar - think I may have a lid for it:

wow Very cool. I dug one of the aqua example. Roses Lime juice is still in production.,I think the black glass roses are olive oil,and the aqua ones are lime juice. I could be wrong,but I know they had olive oil also.

Yes, I guess you could say that, Steve ! The chap involved had approached me some time ago; just hadn't been able to get out to him till now. It involved quite a long trip and we try to combine as many things as we can when we go "up the line" ~ petrol (gasoline whatever!) is going up by another 80c per litre next week !! [:-][:'(]
