Wow! That is super old. You must be digging on the East Coast as here in CA we rarely get to dig 1850's items. Those look to be way older than that. Too bad you didn't get a whole bottle out of it.

Chris and I guessed this hole dated around 1800 to 1830. Is our dating about right?

I'd rather dig shards like that then bromos and chlorox anyday. 1850s-1870s is great, but these older pits are fun too.

Wonderful digging, gentlemen. The above photo is a lyrical portrait of period glass of an upper crusty type. Is the cut cordial intact? Do you have any clues as to the former users of this glass and crockery? British maker's marks?

Do you know the liquid capacity of the mug? I wanted to call it a tankard.

What wording is stenciled on this "little Favorite?"
