Chris and I guessed this hole dated around 1800 to 1830. Is our dating about right?

I'd rather dig shards like that then bromos and chlorox anyday. 1850s-1870s is great, but these older pits are fun too.

Wonderful digging, gentlemen. The above photo is a lyrical portrait of period glass of an upper crusty type. Is the cut cordial intact? Do you have any clues as to the former users of this glass and crockery? British maker's marks?
