West Virginia Flea Market Find- What is it?

I picked this up today for $2.00. The color is mustard yellow/brown. It measure 6 inches high and the opening at the top is 4 inches across. Was this a stoneware food jar?

If it's nicely glazed on the inside, it probably is for canning. Neat find, nice price!~

Yep, it is a food jar. It could have held anything you could put up in jars.
