I stumbled across this bottle while browsing around a newly discovered Antique mall in Bland, VA. Due to an unusual shape and that crazy crown, I decided to take in this straggler to the tune of less than two bucks. It has a fairly crude crown, I would be amazed if this ever held anything due to some imperfections around the lip. It does have some embossing on the bottom "C S & Co Ld" and the number "8325". So what the heck is it, who made it, and how old is it?

Could also be a ginger ale bottle. That style lip finish wasn't designed for a crown top but a cork and wire. The crown was invented to fit that top at a later date. That would date your bottle as early1890s.

That old eh? Neat. The design is very much like the Virginia Etna Springs CO. bottles that I have seen from Vinton, VA. I was thinking that maybe this was an early version of one of those bottles. I'll have to do some digging online and see if the company name matches anyting. Thanks for the info.

EDIT: Just did a quick search on the interwebs using the glass company name and here's what I found.

[font="sans-serif, arial, helvetica, geneva"][*]C.S.& Co. LTD........Cannington, Shaw & Co. Limited, St. Helens, England (1875-1913)
Appearantly it's british.
