I've been finding some great patent papers on different bottle closures closures, milk bottle tops and other bottle related items. Saw this and I would never have guessed right if someone had asked me.

This early ad touts Buffalo Lithia Water as a CURE! The only ad like it I've seen, also of note is the label and seal on the cork.
