Looking for NJ bottles and Colored Blobs

Haven't been around here in a while... I'm doin OK by the way! Just poppin' in to say I'm still looking for Essex County bottles like in my signature, but I've also started collecting colored unembossed blobs. Here's a picture of my best recent Essex acquisition

    Umbrella ink bottle

Take a look at this bottle... Maybe bid on it too. I'd appreciate it!

    Friday's privy from hell

I've been absent from the forum for a while, but I figured I'd post this recent dig for fun. On the 28th, I finally dug a privy again, after about a year. Probed out this 1868 house a couple weeks ago, and got to dig it on Friday.

    A few new listings

A couple things of interest to NJ collectors, a couple of unrelated things.

    A couple recent digs

Dug about a week ago with my friend Rob... Then two days ago with Michael (NyDigger1) and his dad for a very productive dig. Haven't been getting out to dig much the past few months, so it's always good to find some bottles the old fashioned way. Here's my share of the finds from the two digs...

    First dig in a while

I've been caught up with a lot of stuff lately... It was good to get out there today with a friend and dig in the usual spot. Digging has a uniquely balancing effect on me, and probably you guys too. No stellar finds, but some cool stuff, and more than I usually find in this dump. A couple...

Shupps Grove pickups (a little late...)

Better late than never, eh? Here's the stuff I bought at Shupps. First a nice stenciled local jug.

    Zep Beverages

I recently acquired this cool deco soda from Montclair, NJ... I normally find older stuff, but since this is a newer soda I figured I'd post it here. I like it because it has a zeppelin embossed on it. The condition isn't great (case wear mostly), but it's OK until I can find a better one...

What do you make of this freak?

OK obviously this bottle is not "original"... So then that leaves me wondering... What the hell is it, where did it come from, and who made it? I figure it has to be some amateur glassmaker's pet project after they acquired a cheap 1970's-80's Coke bottle mold... A BIM, rolled lip, pontiled...

    McCarty lid

Dug this milk glass thing up yesterday, and was surprised to learn today that it's a jar lid! Apparently it had a rubber skirt that fit in the groove, and went right into the neck of the jar to seal it. Anyone have a picture of the jar it went with? How rare is this lid, and how much is it...

    Original Crown Cap

I acquired a couple mint George Greason bottles from Montclair a while back, but recently became interested in the crown cap that came with one of them. A blob version that was with it has the original Putnam closure on it. They date from 1899 (when Greason started business) to around 1910...

    American Glass Gallery auction

Some awesome stuff in this auction... Bid high and bid often, especially on lot 72. Take a gander!

    Acme Shoe Dressing with directions

Finally cleaned off a bottle I found earlier. Also opened up a piece of paper that was wrapped around the neck. Turns out the directions for the product's use were folded up around it! Pretty cool to read what this stuff was used for. "ACME SHOE DRESSING/ WATER PROOF/ THE WOLFF CHEMICAL CO./...

    "Barrel" shaped medicine bottle

I don't know what to call this one... The closest shape is that of a Tanqueray Gin bottle. I assume it's a medicine bottle. The only embossing is a February 16th, 1886 patent date on the base. Ideas?

    Smallest blob top ever!

Just thought I'd post this little baby blob... It's in a friend's collection. Never seen one like it! Why would they have made a blob so small?

    Brick NJ bottle show

Mark your calendars... Next Sunday, May 6th, is the Brick bottle show! The Jersey Shore Bottle Club's 39th, Antique Bottle, Post Card and Local Memorabilia Show & Sale, Sunday 8:30 AM to 2 PM, at the Brick Elks, 2491 Hooper Ave (Old Hooper Ave) Brick, NJ, 08723. Info: Monte Boshko, (732)...

    Free bottlez

Ended up at a contractor's place today, and it turns out they found some bottles on a job site recently... They handed me a bucket of dirty bottles and said "Take 'em!". So I did. They have some VERY stubborn dirt on them, but I think an acid bath will clean them right up. These are the keepers...

U.S. Military Desperate To Be Handed Just One Solid War It Can Knock Out Of The Park

The chairman of the Joint Chiefs explains how obliterating a clear-cut enemy like, say, Greece would be a breeze. "ARLINGTON, VA—Reportedly fed up with complicated and protracted operations overseas, top Pentagon officials acknowledged this week they were desperate to be given just one...

    Eastman Kodak "Velox Liquid Developer"

I got these two awesome labeled Kodak bottles today, and was wondering what you folks can tell me about them... First, is the chemical inside hazardous? And second, how much do you think they're worth? I know Kodak stuff is pretty collectible, and I can't find any other labeled ones online...

    Cohansey pint jar

Dug this today in my 1890's dump... I know it's a good one, but can somebody take a look in the book to tell me how good? Were it to show up on ebay, how much could one expect? It's got no chips or cracks, but a couple scratches from a foolish, reckless digger yanking on it too early... [:o]
