I came across a 170 ml free sample bottle of 7-UP. This paper label bottle is embossed NON-REFILLABLE (in English and in French) but the label mentions a refund.
Text on the bottle: THAN YOU BRITISH COLUMBIA FOR MAKING 7-UP THE NUMBER ONE SELLING SOFT DRINK!
5c REFUND ON RETURN OF THIS SAMPLE PACKAGE TO GRAY BEVERAGE CO. LTD. 1875 BOUNDARY RD.,VANCOUVER B.C.
This is from 1977, I was working at Gray Beverage at the time. Even though NDNR bottles were no longer marketed here at the time, these bottles were still produced for use in airlines and cruise ships where the law regarding throw-away bottles didn't apply.
