Got into the worse old root infested hard digging privy today in along time, makes those easy in the lawn pits much more appreciated. These people must have all been related as the pits are all filled with these friggin baseball size rocks throughout the layers and most everything is busted up, like it was some kinda game, privy toss or something, to break everything up.
Did find a few puffs, a large green marble, one whole intact blobtop along with a couple dozen criers.

The blobtop is embossed C C NELSON & CO ST CATHARINES with a couple crossed arrows and TRADE MARK in a slug. The criers included a Pinkertons Wahoo Bitters, pint Potter & Bodine open pontiled, several nice early pontiled blackglass ales and this AVON SPRING WATER blackglass quart.

The Nelson blobtop has HAMILTON GLASS WORKS embossed on a smooth base. I'm thinking this is a Canadian piece?

Hi Al, You guys have been hittin the heartbreakers for sure! Too bad on the Avon Springs and Pinkertons, esp after such a tough dig on a super hot day. Hard to split a bottle 4 ways, lol. Heres an older link on the same bottle...

Hi Mark, lol, lately we can split the good ones with ten or more guys, everybody gets a piece! [] A stellar year for the old pits but whole bottles at a premium. That Avon was a real bummer but the topless Pinkertons had my attention, nice color, and it was whole right up until it wasn't! [:(]
We were back at it today another 5 foot wood liner, same story (just not quite as dramatic) most everything busted, ended up with a pretty decent milk, couple locals and an amber poison.

I gotta think our luck will turn soon, hopefully we can all get together for a dig in the near future,

Al
