Due to a convergence of life stuff, I've found myself just starting a new hobby.
I've played guitar for 40 (!) years, and have started to really lean into playing slide as the arthritis starts to bite.
I'm living in central Connecticut, taking care of a family member, so I have some free time.
I helped my father in NH clean up a small dump site on his property where I found a couple hundred uninteresting bottles and a few good ones (see photo).
I also found a couple of broken whiskey bottle necks and tried to use the hot/cold method to shape them into usable slides. I failed.
I've decided to take up bottle hunting because it gets me out of the house, helps clean up the environment, and I get to make use of some of the broken stuff (hooray for the Dremel diamond wheel). Someday I hope I can find a cork top Bromo to try as a slide, or a Phenolax 30 Wafer. As long as I'm dreaming, an old Coricidin bottle would be nice too.
