E Seely Brooklyn Quart Size Beer or Soda

Hello Folks, I recently picked up at an estate saye this quart size E Seely, 13 & 15 N. Oxford St., Brooklyn NY Blob Top Bottle. The other side has a large "S" with the year 1881 underneath. Not sure if it is Soda or Beer.

I have seen reference to E Seely & Sons with the same address. Could this be an earlier variety that is not that common?
Too bad it has some staining.
