This piece got my attention with the bubbles. After looking at the bottle closely, all I could think was that whoever made it was sloppy. Could anyone date this, value? I got it for a steal.

How can you tell if its blown old/new, and american or otherwise?

one more view. wobbles on base, 20 ribs, 6.25in tall, 4.25in at widest point, 2.75in at base. Thanks all. Christine

As you say sloppy job on the handle, but it is applied. Would just have to call it art glass and guess at age by wear.

Sheared, got that part, but why is fire polished odd? And what is that process? Gunther you have been a great source of information, and I thank you. Christine

Fire polishing...
After they shear it they stick it in a flame for a little bit just enough to melt any sharp edges and make it smooth and shiney.

When i said odd, I meant that was an unusual lip style for a decanter. They normally have a pour spout or a laid on ring lip or some other treatment. Yours is like a cross between a decanter/carafe and a vase.
