this is my Pat.D. coke that I can't get a date on. the 21 has a period after it, but thanks to this site, I know that the Pat.D. didn't come out then. I can't make out the other numbers-it looks like 80 to me.
also, how damaged would a SS Coke (shoulder script) have to be before you would toss it rather than take it home?

I thought the 21 was the Owen-Ill. plant number and the 80 was the year the bottle was made.

It could be a 60 with the top melted down.

Rob ~

There are aspects of your bottle that (in my opinion) could easily confuse even the best of experts. And even though I do not include myself among those experts, based on what I know about Coca Cola hobbleskirts, the following will, I hope, shed some light on things ...

21. <(I)> ?

1. The symbol is that of the Owens-Illinois Glass Company that came into being around 1929.
2. The 21 ...

A. Originally a San Francisco plant number that apparently closed around 1937 (?)
B. Number reassigned to the Portland, Oregon plant around 1957-1960 (?)

3. The D'Patent hobbleskirt was generally produced between about 1938 and 1951

4. If the second number is a melted 50 for 1950 then it jives with the production dates but not the Portland plant number.

5. If the second number is a melted 60 for 1960 then it jives with the Portland plant number but not the production dates.

6. If the second number is an 80 for 1980 then it doesn't jive with anything I am aware of.

P.S. ~

Of all the information/numbers/dates I posted above, I believe the most reliable is ...

3. The D'Patent hobbleskirt was generally produced between about 1938 and 1951

Although a few inaccuracies have be found on the following two charts, they are the best I am currently aware of ...
