What kind of insulator type thing is this? ground end7500 Volts, Yikes! I guess I could get off my ass and look up the patent #

Here's the patent (hope the link works... Google Patents can be a bit squirrely at times) https://www.google.com/patents/US2046980?pg=PA2&dq=2046980&hl=en&sa=X&ei=JaP3UtLjGsGG2wWxroEI&ved=0CEMQ6AEwAg Description is "gaseous electric discharge device" with a lot of technical stuff that's over my head, but Kyle's succinct "neon sign insulator" gets the idea across much better than some patent attorney can. [:)] Inventor is from the Netherlands but the patent's assigned to General Electric. GE never owned a glass factory (AFAIK) but farmed out the manufacturing to Corning (Pyrex) and others.
