I know that lids are worth 10-15% of a jar's value... Right? Well, I dug a lid today, but the jar was nowhere to be found. It's stained and scratched pretty badly, but no chips. I'll let the pictures give you an idea of what it looks like.
Around the outside, it is embossed faintly with "PATD JAN 5.75.". It also has a patent date embossed in a similar fashion of April 25, 1882. It also says "RE_SD JUNE 5, 77". I don't know what letter the "_" is, it's too faint.
If this is a glass jar insert, what jar would it have been with?
