Below is our price for Ink Bottles, at the factory, but if you want them in quantity we will deliver them for you at the depot in Nashua at same price. We have no regular teams for Nashua but occasionally we have a ???? to send them.QT Lip Inks 9.00 GrossQt Ring Inks 8.00 GrossPint Lip Inks 6.00 GrossPint Ring Inks 5.00 Gross8 Oz Inks 3.00 Gross6 Oz Inks 2.50 Gross4 Oz Inks 2.25 Gross2 Oz Inks 2.00 GrossVery Respectfully Yours,Sumner Wheeler Co. It was very interesting to me (although I guess it makes sense) that bottles with lips were more expensive than "ring inks", which I would assume are rolled lips? Anyways, a neat piece of paper from the last days of glassblowing in Keene, New Hampshire.

Of course George McDaniels was an ink dealer in Concord, New Hampshire. I've never seen one of his bottles (labeled or embossed). Anyone have one?

I thought the Keene works closed earlier than 1847. Could it be a different date? Back to the books for me I guess.Anyway, that's a nice piece.

Eric, You are right...I believe Sumner Wheeler closed Marlboro in 1841 after inheriting it from Quincy. He kept his store and based on what I can find in the histories continued to sell the many thousands of Marlboro bottles that were left over as well as bottles from Joseph Foster's factory in South Stoddard. So in actuality these bottles are probably Stoddard inks, as I imagine Wheeler ran out of old Marlboro stock by 1847.

[attachment=Wheeler and Woods .solved June 1848.jpg] Hi Brandon,I found this bit of information for you and I am sitting on a lot more from Keene and Stoddard. The Marlboro Street works in Keene stayed open and made glass right through 1848 on into early 1849. My trail goes cold here as I cant find anyone manufacturing glass in Keene after 1849. Glass History has taught us that Justus Perry ran the factory into the early 1830s and formed a couple of partnerships with brother in law John Wood and his half Brother Sumner Wheeler . This information is correct but a firm of great importance was formed before Sumner Wheeler became the Principal owner in subsequent years. This firm consisted of all practical glass men J B Leonard,Joseph Foster and master gaffer Nicholas Hilt. This firm would operate Keene from 1836 to 1841 it was this firms bankruptcy in March of 1842 that Sumner reacquired the Marlboro works.

[attachment=Leonard Foster and Hilt dissolved.jpg]Here is the Company filing for Bankruptcy on March 8th 1842 in the town of Keene. All of these gentlemen were master gaffers who worked for the various firms that ran the Marlboro street works.
