more weird seam lines

it 'looks' like a 1/4" piece of tape was around the inside of the mold.excuse my novice on molds and glass production,but i've heard mention of finish molds.it seems logical that they could make different finishes on a bottle without having to make an entirely different mold.or, was this mold permanently changed to accomodate a different finish.or,what is it? i'm sure a piece of tape wasn't used to cover a tansition line,that's just what it looks and feels like

I would guess that the mechanical device which molded the lip was rather cold, and when it first touched the area it caused a rind of hardened glass to form, which stretched and cracked as the lip was molded into the finished shape.

You often see this effect on early ABM bottles.
