I'm looking for information about Putnam lighting jars I bought one at a tag sale that said 871 on the base, and more recently I dug one that was almost whole but the top was broken that 868 on the base I've seen so many different numbers on the base in pictures on this site and E-Bay. How many different numbers are there on the base and are they all different or just mold numbers or years made. I'm really interested in collecting these lightning jars, because of the local history the glassmaker who helped improve the lighting jar gave the funding to start the hospital I was born in.

I also saw in a 1915 business guide that there was a factory where they made those jars unfortunately, it's in the middle of town long built over. The dump I found the broken jar in fits that era of the early 1900's)- teens.

the # on the base is only the mold number...you need to supply a picture....what color is it? provide a closeup of the lip also...
