I believe that the stoddard utility bottle you have listed held ink.
I've dug them with other stoddard ink bottle.
A labeled stoddard ink bottle.

You could be correct. I have seen these with ink, blacking, blueing, polish, etc... so it could be anything, however, ink is the most likely!
Did you happen to find it right next to your Farleys!

Yes, I found it next to the Farleys and a green Harrisons Columbian ink and a pontiled umbrella ink.
That was a good day digging!!!

Hey Mike,

Thanks for posting that Stoddard Utility, I have one very similar that came out of a river in southern NH, it is one of my prized possesions. I was glad to hear that it may have held ink.
