USPS Insurance Claims

So I just broke my first package as an ebay seller and have filed an insurance claim with the USPS. What are my chances of being reimbursed? Anyone dealt with this? Shame too it was a nice piece. A 1940's repro of a Lutted's cough drop counter display.

I sent my sister a package once , think some clown used it for a football , the piece was completely shattered . She called the post office , they said bring the box and wrapping in . Upon looking at it they gave her a full refund of the insured amount .

I sold a sewing machine on ebay and the seller got it literally broke in 1/2! I guess they ran over it. They gave him a full refund, so I didn't have too.

Dang cold chills went up and down my back when I saw the picture..cause the only thing I ever broke was the top to one of these when I was cleaning my bottles!Mine was light amber...I watched as it fell in slow motion to the ground..the bottom stayed intact,but the top was broken into so many pieces I could bot even have glued it back together[]..I loved that sucker too[&o]..think I gave 20 bucks for it.....JAMIE

Seeing this thread again made me remember to check up on my claim and it was approved!! Yay!

Man that sucks you also broke yours. I am lucky she owned two of these but still bummed the one got broken. From what I understand about them the color I have is becoming harder to find all the time. I added to that problem by breaking one.

I got a refund on an item with no problem. I think it matters a good bit who at the PO judges it. Some seem to have more discretion than others. I made sure I took it to our small town PO not the busy city one.
