Very Strange Glass Container....Foreign?

Hello Folks, hoping someone can identify this glass container I recently picked up at an auction. I suspect it is quite old as it is covered in very old leather.

Possibly for drinking wine or coffee? It may be foreign based on the 3 letters inscribed in the leather.

It's a wine porron. Spanish in design, I believe. You can find them commonly on eBay.

Very interesting piece, I suspect I would buy one for personal use if I were to run across one someplace in the $20 - $25 range.

They made good water pipes, I remember that from years back. The type with the ice pocket was real good
