In my collection, I have two quart Milleville Atmospherics and one pint. One of the quarts has a lid that is different from the others. See the pictures of the differences. One is much more crude, has some light amber swirls and does not have the 4 lines embossed out from the center.
Can anyone give me a little more info about age of the lids (when they stopped making the old style), relative rarity, or any other tidbits about these lids? Thanks!

Thanks - right now I plan to hang on to them all, but might sell one of the quarts eventually. I was more interested in the history. I know there are some people out there that specifically collect Milleville items that might know about the lid differences.

When I first saw your photos, I thought one of them was the domed lid, which would go on the more square-shouldered jar with the rounded clamp. However, both of these lids appear to be for the newer, round shouldered jar with the square clamp. Maybe the one lid is a transitional style somewhere between the two. According to Dick Roller the square shoulder jar is the older one as that is what is depicted in the patent drawing. They were made between 1861 and the 1880's, but we really don't know exactly when the transition was done.

Thanks and you are right, I should have been more clear. Both lids are the flat style - they're just different from each other. It's probably nothing I guess.
