Will send you a pm Chris.

    Flint glass US Turlington's

It's a hinge mold bottle Michael, with an open pontil scar and the mold seam going diagonally across the middle of the base, so the seam line is visible in the 'open' middle of the pontil mark.

    Flint glass US Turlington's

Recently acquired the little Turlington's Balsam on the right of this picture. American made, flint glass with a distinct grey tint, inward rolled lip, OP. Alongside a more typical aqua American example. Both very light, thinly blown bottles. Not often you see a colorless glass pontilled US...

    Cannington Shaw & Co

The number was probably something, like a mold number / reference, that only really meant anything to the glassmaker.

    WANTED: Hand lettered ointment pots

Yup, hard to find. This is the first I've had a chance at in over three years, since I first set my sights on getting one or two for the collection.

    Apothecary Jar

McT is right: Y G Co inside a hexagon in that style is the York Glass Co mark, from York in the UK. They were probably the largest maker of chemist / druggist display bottles in Britain during the 19th and early 20th centuries.

new york black glass pontil hamilton

Personally I wouldn't be too concerned about it Matt. Steve's described double-boxing packaging would be good against anything except careless / malicious / stupid customs agents who completely unpack the things! The problem I recently had is the only one I've experienced in 10+ years of...

A great bottle, whichever side of the Atlantic it goes to Steve.

    D. David's

RE: D. David's Tincture / For The Teeth and Gums. You're right: it's probably Davidson. Zoomed image shows an 'o' after 'Davids'. Makes sense: there were a few "Davidson's" patent medicines in the UK 1800 - 1860 (Davidson's Ointment, Davidson's Aperient Vegetable Pills, and so on).

    D. David's

RE: D. David's Tincture / For The Teeth and Gums. Hi Steve. Nice bottle. It's not one I've heard of before, and I haven't ever seen reference to D David or his tincture in 18th / 19th century British adverts. I had a quick scan through a couple of databases just now and also drew a blank...

new york black glass pontil hamilton

Nope. But thanks for the thought Eric. It was a bottle that arrived in pieces. A very rare early embossed bottle too [:(]. Weird thing is that it was very well packaged when it left the seller but was opened by customs when it arrived in the UK and EXTREMELY badly repackaged by them: a...

Insurance is also very difficult to get for breakage if items are glass or ceramic. It usually only covers loss, as I found out recently to my cost [:(] Having said that I've had dozens and dozens of trades / purchases / sales both ways across the Atlantic over the past ten years, and only...

    Is My Codds a Fake?

Yup, I'm sure coddfather. Also worth asking: why would anyone go to the trouble and expense of 'faking' these codds? They've been known by collectors since at least the 1970s (and so can't have anything to do with the much more recent problems of fake bottles), when coloured marble codds...

I was watching this one: RHODGSON IMPROVED SODA

The Hodgeson's is probably one of the best early UK sodas: dates pre-1818. There are a few around: probably ten or a dozen in VGC or better. This one went a bit cheaper than most probably because the embossing, especially of the coat of arms, isn't as clear as it could be. I was kind of...
