I dug two privies on Sunday the 31st. The first was a brick lined rectangle. It was very small and only about 4 feet deep. It was cleaned out forever. No whole bottles were recovered. I did find one relic on the bottom floor along the side wall. A Civil War period bowie or side knife with the...
I dug a wood liner behind a shed Just after New Years day. It was 5 x 7 by 6 feet deep. Not much to show. 1 squat aqua soda, a few embossed 1870's meds. and a white clay pipe. It was a cold cold day and I remember the pit was filled with water and mud. Jim
Sorry smithman29 for reading your comments the wrong way. It was not out of money paranoia, but a different sort of paranoia I guess. I don't even really care what the bottle finally sells for. It is nice to make a few dollars, but I would have much preferred the bottle was a less expensive...
To me the jar is aqua with a greenish tint. Calling a cornflower blue bottle cobalt blue is a far cry from calling the squat light green. The bottle is the squat in the upper right corner. That is light green not aqua. Lets take a vote. Jim
smithman29 I know what the color aqua is. I also know the difference between light green and greenish aqua. My judgement concerning the J.C. bottle is that it is light green, not the greenish aqua you are trying to sell me. It is a colored bottle. I have the bottle in my hand and I know what it...
The meds are all embossed Nichols & Townley - Druggist - Newark, N. J. They are late 60's early 70's.
The probing was tough as the ground was frozen. I use a 50 pound breaker bar with a point on the end and bash holes in the ground then probe. A few along the back, then a few up the sides...
Many people have emailed me about acquiring this bottle. Offers have been all over the place. I decided to list it on ebay for better or worse. If you are interested in owning it please bid. Thanks everyone. Jim D.
It is item # 370316960492
Dug a deep, water filled, larger than average size privy on Sunday.
Mostly broken bottles, stoneware, and other ceramics.
Three embossed medicines, one squat soda, and one Home Rule white clay pipe came home with me. Good Digging to you! Jim
Hi Everyone,
I dig for the most part in Central & Northern New Jersey.
I do not know what the lid is for.
Many people have been trying to buy the Fields.
I do not collect PA bottles so have been leaning toward listing it on ebay.
Will post pictures of this Sundays dig recoveries later...
