Great antique store pick-up!

That looks way too smooth and even to be an open pontil. Could be some other type of pontil, but I doubt it! BTW - Sweet bottle! I'd pay $18 for that any day!!!

The Aristo bottle looks like one of the standard druggist bottles manufactured by Whitall Tatum & Company in the 1880's. If so, it should have W.T.&Co. embossed on the base. Of course, the purchaser of the bottle could use it for whatever they wished, so this doesn't neccessarily mean it's a...

Help removing tar

Last year we did quite a bit of digging in an area that was previously used for oil storage. All of the bottles were covered in black crap! I had some luck with Easy Off Oven Cleaner. I've also heard that gasoline will dissolve tar, but that stuff isn't much fun to work with...

My First Dug Embossed Pontil!

Nice find!! I'm still hoping for one myself. Not too much stuff that old in California and Hawaii where I've done most of my digging - although I have managed to pull a few blank punty boys and one heavily damaged Dr. D. Jaynes. I'd be super stoked to find a Dyer's like the one you got...

Another TOC Baltimore Beer Dump

Those are some great bottles you got coming out in them woods! I'm amazed at how close to the surface the bottles are?!?? Most of the stuff I'm digging in both Hawaii and California is much deeper. What's the oldest stuff you've found out there on the surface?
